Dear world,
The following, though bearing no contentful relation to one another, are
facts, the combination of which gives a faurly accurate description of
just how eventful the last few months have been.
It's worth noting, before we embark on such a list, that all is
essentially well, and that I am as content as one can ever be while
still making time for reasonably excessive worrying.
1. I'm working in Manhattan, but strongly miss Boston. I think, for now,
I'm sold on the whole Boston thing. Manhattan in a few years when I'm
wealthy. Some time in may, I'd say, I became really attached to
Cambridge. When I go back there, now, it feels comfortable and nice.
2. I was walking down the street yesterday, and saw a man with a
messenger bag that I knew to cost ~$500. I then looked at his shoes, and
knew them to be Prada. I then realized that I've become one of those
people snobby enough to know such things.
3. I've decided definitively to go to law school; this summer has been
of mixed enjoyment, but I really like lawyers, I've found, and I think
corporate work will be fun.
4. I now, in fact, own a pink Ralph Lauren polo shirt. I think this
represents me selling out to the man in just about the only way I hadn't
already.
5. My uniform has definitely changed; I never thought it'd happen, but
jeans are probably now my default. I finally found some slim enough to
flatter me, and off I went. I love the Italians. I suppose a constant
from before is the preference for a jacket, but even then, I tend to
wear them over t-shirts rather than dress shirts.
6. I think something like Moore's Law governs my clothing selection.
7. I intend to regularly go dancing with Claire this fall.
8. Due to an unfortunate rock climbing accident, my right thumb is no
longer particularly opposable. The official word is that such things
don't really get better without surgery; I'm skeptical.
9. Claire can cook! Visits to Boston this summer have had the added
benefit of being incredibly tasty.
10. If I ever need to dress up as a pirate, I now own a dress shirt with
ruffles that are ideal for just such an endeavor. Again, I offer warm
fuzzy feelings to the Europeans, for making my present wardrobe
possible.
11. Going to work every day, and being on an early schedule, is actually
really nice. In, oh, 4 years, when I have a real career, it'll be
lovely.
12. Studying for the LSAT, shockingly, is not super-fun.
13. Living at home has been stressful, but finally got nice around the
beginning of july or thereabouts.
14. It's very odd not to be getting any HRSFA-related emails.
